The 47″ YC Onion Hot Dog Bun Motorized Slider includes a motor that attaches to the slider carriage to motorize your slides with smooth, consistent motion. Using an iOS/Android companion app, you can assign A and B start and end travel points in both video and time-lapse modes. Settings such as speed and back and forth loop motion are also assignable. In time-lapse mode, you can adjust the frame rate, the number of photos, interval time, exposure, damping, and other parameters. The motor also has onboard buttons for setting A and B start and end points directly without an app. The motor attaches to the slider carriage with included screws, and a belt attaches to the motor and to the two ends of the slider by quick release clip mounts. You can also remove the motor and belt and use the slider fully manually.
The motor can also be paired with select DJI and Zhiyun-Tech gimbals, and simultaneous motion settings can be assigned for the slider and the gimbal from the same YC Onion app to achieve 4-axis motion control. To pair the DJI Ronin-S or RS 2, an optional YC Onion Interlink module is additionally required. There are separate ones available for these two gimbals, and they sandwich in between the gimbal and the slider. But Zhiyun gimbals can be paired directly, without any add-on module required. The following Zhiyun gimbals are directly compatible: WEEBILL LAB, WEEBILL-S, CRANE 3 LAB, CRANE 3S, CRANE 2S, CRANE 2, and CRANE-M2. The WEEBILL-2 is expected to be compatible in the near future as well.
Time-lapse capture can be achieved with the slider placed horizontally or slanted on a tripod. The motor supports up to 44 lb horizontally, up to 31 lb when inclined at 45° on a tripod, and up to 14 lb when mounted fully vertically.
The slider carriage features a 3/8″-16 screw, supporting compatible tripod heads and ball heads (as well as the optional Interlink module). On the bottom of the slider are 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads for mounting the slider on a tripod.
Battery and Power Bank Power
The motor can be powered by an optional Sony F550, F750, or F950 battery, or by an optional USB power bank, which would connect to a USB Type-C port on the motor. An F550 battery provides up to four hours of runtime, an F750 up to eight hours, and an F970 up to 11 hours. A 10000mAh power bank lasts up to three hours.
Shutter Control
Next to the USB Type-C port on the motor is a 2.5mm DC port for connecting compatible shutter cables (sold separately) for enhanced time-lapse capture with your camera.
Monitoring Screen
The motor has a power button, stepless control knob, A/B buttons, and 1.3″ LCD screen that displays the status of select assigned parameters, so you don’t need an app to assign and monitor settings for basic A to B motions. The control knob lets you adjust speed and make various selections.
A/B Memory
The assigned A to B travel points are stored in the motor’s memory and can be used the next time you use the slider. When these travel points are changed, the motor stores the new settings, replacing the previous ones.
Quick Release Belt
The belt has integrated clips on the end that allow it to be attached to the slider by quick release. An Allen key comes inserted in a dedicated slot on one end of the slider, and it’s used to tighten the belt by tightening the corresponding belt screw, which is also on the end of the slider. The belt can be removed, and the slider used manually.
Adjustable Feet
Independently adjustable feet allow you to compensate for uneven surfaces when placing the slider on the ground.
Robust and Lightweight Design
The slider uses lightweight carbon fiber rods and aluminum components mostly everywhere else.
App Compatibility
The companion app is compatible with iOS 11.0 or later, and Android 6.0 or later. It can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play.
